Dear fellow co-worker who wants me to update the website AND to do it your way,

You're right you know. I've only been designing websites for just over 10 years but what would I know? YOU are the expert.

I've only been doing this job for 2 years but so what? YOU are the expert.

I only have a Diploma in Graphic Design but hey, YOU are the expert.

I've done a Writing for the Web course that cost my employer a day of my time and about $900 but never mind that. YOU are the expert.

I've got a pretty damn good idea about Information Architecture, usability and readability but no no no, YOU are the expert!

Our Discipline of Marketing has a film unit that is producing an online video to promote the study of honours in the Faculty of Economics and Business. Here's hoping we end up with something as good as these.

It Begins

I'm working on a report for the Dean of our Faculty detailing how best to utilise Web 2.0 technology for our website.

Before the addition of any bells and whistles, the site itself desperately needs some decent content. I'm responsible for the 'Future Students' section and trying to get content is like trying to pull teeth. I've scoured other Uni sites so I know what I need (or more accurately, what I want) but finding the people with the time to provide it just aint happening. Although I'm not technically responsible for creating content, I'm going on a writing for the web course and armed with various print publications, I'm hoping to come up with something.

Am also dying to be sent the template for the new design. I mean, how ugly are we right now?!
